MK1 Escort RS1600 (2.1 Burton Rally Spec Engine)

This is a beautiful MK1 Escort RS1600, fitted with a 2.1 Pinto Engine built to the 'Burton Power' Rally Spec. Twin 45 DCOE's. Kent GTS4 Camshaft (312 deg @ 1.0mm) with a strong power band 3750 to 8250 rpm.
The first task was to get the ignition timing in the correct ballpark at idle, followed by the 45 DCOE webers jetted up correctly. In particular the Idle jets, Main jets, Emulsion tubes and Air correctors. All ballanced, synchronised in operation.
With these in the right ball park I could then explore the ignition mechanical advance curve on the H&H spec'd distributor and coil pack. The main purpose being to optimise to this engine spec and overall application.

When finished this car ran beautifully and considering that it was running a +300 deg competition camshaft it was pretty well behaved at idle too!!
