Alfa Romeo Giulia 1750 GTV - Tuning by AG Classic Car Tuning
The above is a lovely example of a 1969/70 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1750 GTV as tuned by AG Classic Car Tuning
The owner of this lovely Alfa had recently had a rebuilt engine fitted and had since covered perhaps 200 miles or so. The engine and all ancilliaries were re-installed by a local classic car specialist located close to the owners West Yorkshire home. So why did the owner then need AG Classic Car Tuning to take a look at the car and what issues needed to be resolved?
Well.... firstly the spark plugs were perceived as being very dark/black, there was a notable 'spitting' back through the carburettors and general performance didn't quite feel a crisp and lively as expected.
So what did AG Classic Car Tuning find?
Well firstly the ignition timing marks on the crank shaft pulley had not been highlighted and neither had the TDC pointer on the engine. Hence it always asks the question of how/if the ignition had been set via a strobe? Once these markers were highlighted the ignition timing was checked and found to be retarded. (Later determined to be approx 13 deg retarded.)
The 40 DCOE Weber 032 float heights were also incorrect, and duly corrected.
After which the engine could then be tuned, and fully optimised to utilise the correct ignition mechanical advance curve.
Final result a lovely test drive, zero backfires or spitting....and crisp responsive performance.
