AC Aceca Bristol - Tuning by AG Classic Car Tuning
The above is a lovely example of an AC Aceca Bristol as tuned by AG Classic Car Tuning
On arrival this car had been recently purchased by it's new owner, and there was a general thought that the vehicle may have been stood in a showroom/storage for some time.
The overall tuning of this car was pretty straight forward and just a matter of bringing together all the normal suspects/culprits and setting them correctly. So the first things was to check that the ignition timing marker was telling me the truth and did accurately indicate a true TDC. After which the ignition timing was set to a safe nominal value, and then reset once again after the points dwell angle had been optimised. Spark plugs re-gapped, so that they were no longer at the 'out of the packet' gap. Ignition coil primary and secondary values checked. I now had a good quality spark, happening at the right point in time, jumping the right spark plug gap. So giving fuelling a good healthy opportunity to burn correctly and utilise the energy within.
Carburation - 3 x Solex 32 BI - On initial testing the idle gases were much higher than desired. Hence all 3 carbs were then baselined to a suitable start position before air flow synch balancing at idle and mid throttle opening. With a little tweak here and there the idle emission gases were brought down to a much more acceptable value. Fuel mixture burn was quite normal at light throttle and also under accelerating load.
Overall a lovely car, and as recommended to the owner following a few simple re-commissioning tasks it will be almost as good as new.
