Triumph TR6

The owner of this Triumph TR6 has sent other vehicles to me before and as one of his favourite cars he wanted me to take a look at this one and take care of a few little issues.

Triumph TR6 pi Tuned by AG Classic Car Tuning

As you'll see on the below video, on arrival it wasn't running too well....it was a bit grumpy and I'm not convinced it was enjoying running on all 6 cylinders.  May even have preferred to only run on 4.....but it is of course my job to find out why and change it's mind and get it back on all 6.

So video number 1, here is the before tuning....listen to how grumpy it sounds!!  Not a happy camper as it almost stalls onto the ramps.  Time to find out why!!

So...as ever I started with a number of typical health checks and baseline settings.   Here's a little of what I found.

1)  Wrong fuel pressure being supplied....100psi instead of 106 to 110psi.

2) 2 Spark plugs failing, all plugs quite tired and needing to be replaced.

3) Spark plugs not consistently gapped

4) Ignition timing retarded by almost 5 degree's

5) Split fuel pipes, and wrong size and type of fuel clips giving leakage.

6) Throttle bodies out of synch

7) Choke mechanism not operating....plus very low fast idle.

8) ....I'll leave it at that, but there were other little issues too.

Once the above and a few other issues were resolved, I was able create the below video during the tuning process.   I'm sure you'll agree, sounding much better already!!

With some more optimisation of the fuel pressure regulation and safety replacement of certain fuel pipes this TR6 was pretty much ready for return to the owner.  Comparing the video entering the garage and the below video reversing out it's almost like two different cars.

Yes, that is another TR6 in the other garage ready for a health check and tune as well........time to book your classic car in???
