Mobile support charges.

Question - Can you come to my home to tune my car?

Answer - YES   , is the very simple answer.

However, please keep in mind that I do need to charge for the travel time and distance.  My travel charge rate is given on the 'PRICING' page.   In general it works out that during travel time once I've paid for fuel and 'wear and tear' on the vehicle I'm earning only half my normal charge rate compared to when I'm on site working on a car.  But, if you want to bring the car to me and cover the travel time and costs yourself, it's not a problem by me.  In either case it may need to fit in with other work on the same day.

2hrs 21mins each way

I'll bring the car to you!!

Whether working at our workshop or doing mobile tuning on the road, I try to put together a 'full' day of work, which more than likely involves 2 or 3 separate jobs (depending on complexity).

So whilst many are very quick to offer....'I'll bring it to you'....it does need to fit in with a day when I have other jobs planned at our private workshop in order to make a 'full' day.

Question - How much do you charge for the travel time? (See pricing page)

Answer - For both you and me, we have to be sensible about call out charges.  In the above example it's over a 4hr round trip and nearly 200 miles.  Realistically when making a journey like this 4hrs of my working time will be sat in the car travelling to and from your vehicle.  Plus I'll use a good few gallons of diesel to cover the travel, and the general wear and tear adds up.  So in 2022 you'd be looking at in the region of £180 -£200 of mobilisation costs.  Wherever possible I'm happy to share the mobilisation charges if there is another tuning job in a nearby location.....I'll try and help you find that partner to share costs if at all possible.

Also keep in mind that if your location is in 'X' and it's way out on a limb it kind of eats up a big part if not all the remainder of my working day too.  The bottom line is that expectations need to be quite real and reasonable, but for comparison generally I'm far cheaper than a taxi!!!....

As a pricing comparison, I'm cheaper than a taxi!

Why am I saying .....Cheaper than a Taxi?

Firstly, I mean no disrespect to any taxi driver out there.  At the time of writing (2022) a simple basic Uber Taxi is being quoted at £174 in each direction for this same journey as mentioned above for Sheffield!!  So for a guy/girl to just do the same journey, whilst earning an honest living for their time given to you for the journey you'd be looking at £350 for the driving journey alone.

In comparison I'm a specialist in what I do, there aren't 20+ numbers in the local town or city offering the same skills and service and I'd estimate my charge for the same period of time journey, fuelling and costs to be approx £180 to £200.  Hence, it's damn cheap when making exactly the same journey, whilst earning a living, from exactly the same time used!!...................perhaps I'd be better off being a taxi driver????

.....and of course you've always got the option of bringing your car to me.  I can't be any fairer than that really.

What about other locations?

Yes, I'll travel to wherever needed.......just as long as the use of time is viable.

To help me, ...to help you, ....do a google check of the distance involved so that you can then be realistic about the time and distance that will be involved.

In comparison to a typical quoted taxi price for the journey between your location and mine my mobilisation charges are perhaps 1/2 to 2/3rds of the price of the taxi journey.

So yes.....my point being that mobilisation charges are pretty fair and pretty cheap but, I can't do it for free I do have to cover my costs.

Thank you for your understanding.
